The Wedding Stylist
My best-kept I secret suppliers
We asked three ultra-stylish brides with traditional big days to open up their Little White Wedding Book and share the very best, under-the-radar companies who went above and beyond to deliver perfection.
Louise Bulmer, 30, married Dan Baum, 31 at Clock Barn, Whitchurch, Hampshire, in June 2019 I enlisted a decor stylist, Sundari, who was there every step of the way. She helped me pick palettes and : decorations – and even made some pieces by hand, : like the signage and the escort cards (each guest had a vintage key tied to their i name card with silk ribbon). She had great suggestions i for suppliers – she sourced \ the light-up letters from dorisloves.co.uk – and was ş happy to travel to me to discuss ideas. Plus, she was i there on the day to make sure it all ran smoothly.

FLORIST: LINDSEY KITCHIN, THE WHITE HORSE FLOWER COMPANY
Lindsey really listened to what I wanted, and had lots of great ideas. We chose roses, peonies and sweet peas for the bouquets, a flower arch and hanging stems from the ceiling – it was beautiful. thewhitehorse flowercompany.co.uk
CAKE MAKER: LAURA HASSON AT MEADOW COTTAGE BAKERY
Laura was recommended by our venue and was happy to make anything we wanted. We had four layers of vanilla sponge, chocolate and red i velvet with buttercream icing. I wanted a gold tier to complement the antique brass swans I’d found to go ; on top; Laura used gold leaf, which looked amazing. The cake was decorated with . roses supplied by our florist.
BAND: THE JAZZ DYNAMOS
We saw them at a wedding i and loved their energy.
They’re a bit different to the standard wedding band: jazzy, with double bass : and piano. Our first dance, In My Life by The Beatles, j wasn’t in their repertoire, but they practised it and sent us a recording to approve.
THE FLOWERS: HELEN JANE FLORISTRY
I found Helen on Google – she was reasonably priced and so professional and ‘on it’. My bouquet of white and ivory flowers and foliage smelled amazing! My maids’ posies looked fabulous with their silver dresses, and the men had buttonholes of Akito roses and eucalyptus.
WEDDING VENUE AND CATERER: CRIPPS STONE BARN
We were so happy with the attention we were given by Clayton and Jason at our venue. They helped our suppliers set up early, and they have a website where you can exchange notes with staff: any question we had (from the logistics of toasting marshmallows outside to needing a hook for mistletoe) was promptly taken care of. cifflpstonebanncoin
THE MAIDS’ DRESSES: VICTORIA LOU
I had six bridesmaids, so the ‘one size fits all’ multi-way dress was ideal. With so many to buy, I had to keep to a budget, so was put off by expensive brands. I found Victoria via the power of Instagram, using the hashtag #multiwaydresses! She was brilliant, very fast at responding and lovely to deal with. victorialou.co.uk
THE FOOD: THE DIMBLEBEE CATERING CO
There are no words to say how delicious our food was. Ben’s sister had used the company for her wedding, so we knew we wanted them to do ours. We had a posh BBQ with dishes to pass around, then freshly baked pizzas for the evening. But the showstoppers were the towers of chocolate brownies on each table. Heaven.
BRIDAL BOUTIQUE: THE MEWS BRIDAL, NOTTING HILL
This relaxed boutique is great for modern brides, with staff who are all about finding the right dress for you. I gravitated towards looser silhouettes, so when they suggested I try Rime Arodaky’s lace crop top and fitted skirt, I was unsure. Boy, was I wrong! From the moment I was buttoned into it, I knew it was The One. thenewtbridal.com
THE MARQUEE: RELOCATABLE STRUCTURES
They were so professional and the marquee was erected really quickly, so we had ample time to decorate. Even rain a few days before the build didn’t hinder them: they helped us prepare for the worst and hope for the best! relocatable- structures.co.uk
DECORATION AND PROP HIRE: LAURA PENNY, LULABEE
Laura provides a one-stop shop for all the small details that make a huge difference. We relied on her chalkboard signs, rustic card box, cake stand, wooden thank-you card sign and various glass vases to create a relaxed, wintry vibe. She delivers, sets up and picks up everything you hire – and helps with other items that aren’t part of her remit when anxieties run high (and trust us, they did!).
