DO THE TWIST
Grab the seasons weirdest and most wonderful accessory JW Anderson’s S/S 16 collection presented something a bit ’80s avant-garde: ribbed tunic knits and trousers, printed midi skirts, and our favourite, the Tangle bag. Bunched at the top, this paper-bag-style leather clutch with chrome hardware is a definite contender for bag of the season. We’ll take it in any colour.
24 hours with Raleigh Ritchie as the Game Of Thrones star and musician records in the studio 11AM I’m not going to lie, I’m awful at mornings. Once I’m awake, it still takes me half an hour to actually get out of bed. 11.30AM I’ve got a speaker I can use in the shower, so I’ll put on a chart playlist on Spotify to put me in a good mood. 11.47AM Get dressed. I buy a lot of T-shirts from belovedshirts.com, which you can customise; my favourite has a picture of The Rock on it. 12.05PM Walk to the bus stop and listen to a podcast called You Must Remember This, about the history of Hollywood. On the bus to the studio, I read my book, To Infinity And Beyond! The Story Of Pixar Animation Studios. 1PM At the studio, I meet up with Justin and Paul, the two producers I work with. Much of the song-writing process is working out what kind of mood I’m in.
We’ll push buttons and hit keys for a while. 2PM Time for some food. There’s a Thai restaurant around the corner – their chicken pad Thai is amazing. 2.55PM Back in the studio, inspiration hits – I start writing
down lyrics, and come up with melody ideas.
Then it’s time to vocal it. It’s nearly the end of the day, but I work best with some urgency. 7PM With the track done, I head home. I catch up with my girlfriend and then I sit down and do an hour of writing; I’m making a short film next year. 8.45PM Order dinner from our favourite local Italian: chicken pesto pasta, with sweet potato fries and an apple crumble. We watch an episode of Transparent while we eat. 10.30PM Head out to The Old Blue Last in Shoreditch for some drinks. I like a White Russian.
1AM Get an Uber home, but I stay up to go on YouTube; I watch a lot of Q&As with directors, and make notes. 3AM Finally, I fall asleep – I’m definitely a night owl.
