WHOLE OATS: These are best cooked overnight on very low heat. Use 1 cup oats to 5 cups water, and make sure your pot is large enough and your flame as low as possible. In the morning they will be done and delicious. (You may toast them if you want before cooking.) An alternate approach is to soak them overnight and cook for 2 hours in the morning.
ROLLED OATS: Do not wash. Prepare as for rice, using 1 cup oats to 2 cups water. Cook for 25 minutes.
