So, we’ve discussed Styling producS examined heat appliances diat about brushes ?
Can a brush make so much difference to the quality and control of your hair Yes, indeed it can!
Brushes come in all shapes and sizes and by laying bare my kit bag I hope to have helped you navigate the choice that’s out there. Brushes and combs have a long history and have been around for thousands of years.
When it comes to natural versus plastic, my rule of thumb is you probably need both. Natural bristles tend to be softer as they are less prone to damage and wear and tear and therefore do not snag the hair fibre.
Plastic bristles are great heat conductors which make them easy to use for quick blow drying. Coupled with a metal barrel the hair can be blow dried and shaped into your desired look very easily. Use natural bristles when the hair is dry and plastic when the hair is being dried from damp.
Brands like Mason Pearson, Monroe Margaux, Denman and of course my own shiny happy hair range are renowned for their quality and durability and have won copious awards.
A paddle brush is perfect for straight or smooth blow drying and speed drying.
A vent brush or cushion brush is perfect for shorter cuts.
