Sometimes talking too much about your plans can leave you feeling under pressure. Instead of talking about what your limitless self will do, talk about what she’s already doing. This will make your words more concrete to those around you. used to believe and that often requires a lot of work.
To live your limitless life, she says you’d have to start off by believing that there’s nothing you can’t have if you want it. This seems simple enough when you think about it, but it isn’t that easy, she says. This means genuinely believing that you can do and have whatever you want, no matter where you happen to be at this moment.
An example of this is 34-year-old Nicole*. At 33, she decided to quit her job as a communications manager to pursue her dream of being a doctor. My life seemed perfect, she says. I had a loving husband, a high-paying job, and a beautiful child, but I wasn’t happy. I had always wanted to go to medical school, but gave up on that dream years ago. A year into her 30s, Nicole started thinking about what her ideal life would be like if she didn’t have adult responsibilities. That’s when the idea of going to medical school came up, but initially everything in me told me it was a bad idea because it wasn’t sensible or realistic.
Nicole started preparing for her limitless life by convincing herself that she deserved a fulfilling life that allowed her to grow in whatever direction she chose. It took a lot to convince myself and then I had to deal with everyone around me trying to discourage me, she says. The 18 months I took to convince myself I too was worthy of living the life of my dreams helped me stand up for myself.
