GHOST TOWN THE PIED PIPER OF GHOST TOWN IS GAINING QUITE A FOLLOWING. AND NOW, HE WANTS YOU…
Be just do what we like to do” Kevin IH Ghost says with a smile, “and if other people want to be a part of it, then it’s like, ‘Damn, I want to be your friend!’” M For some stars, being an influence
in the limelight and building a dedicated following takes time, effort and control, For the Ghost Town frontman, it couldn’t come more natural] Like his fellow bandmates – guitarist Alix Koochaki and drummer MannYtheDrummeR Dominick the 25-year-old is comfortable simply being himself, and knowing that when he speaks, his words will resonate.
In 2016, Kevin’s voice will be heard louder than ever: If 2015 was the year that his gang of electro-rockers found their feet – with keyboardist Evan Pearce parting ways with the band in the summer due to undisclosed health reasons, and subsequentlyreleasingtheirthird (and best) album, Evolution – then the New Year will see Kevin and his Ghosts taking their message to the masses. “With this album, we had a very set idea and it was a very strong vision – but things always work themselves out as you go, as well,” Kevin admits. It’s this determined yet easy-going mindset that will take the trio full-throttle through the year and far beyond, too.
While GhostTown are relatively young in their career in the grand scheme of things, having formed in 20l2,the band already have three studio albums and an EP to their name. This is thanks, largelyto Kevin and his vision. And the message is clear: GhostTown is something that you can be a part of Their older records tackled very specific situations and relationships, but Kevin wanted to ensure that, on Evolution, his words were something that everyone could relate to.
Add in the fact that the singer is influenced by everyone from Michael Jackson to Underoath, and you’ve got a frontman like no other in the scene.
And yet Kevin hasn’t had the chance to make a full impact on these shores. That will come in 20l6.The band hit WarpedTour UK back in November; but their next visit over here won’t be as fleeting, First, there’s a month-long UK and European tour with pop-punks Simple Plan. Then, even more tour dates and festival slots will follow. But coping with all the extra eyes on him, playing to some of their biggest crowds ever; is something he will approach with confidence – as is Kevin’s way “If you feel good about what you’re doing”, h e says, “then you’re doing something right.”
And while his group are blowing up, the singer is very much aware that he needs to keep his feet firmly rooted on the ground, In fact, he believes that to be something everyone needs to do.
‘We’re all being pulled in so many different directions sometimes – you’ve just got to turn your phone off and chill, and read a damn book,” he asserts. “But just as important as it is to take time foryourself and stay grounded, I also equally believe it’s importanttotake risks and try newthings, and not let fear completely take control of every decision that you make, It’s important to get out there and do your thing.”
Let Kevin do exactly that, and people will follow Frustrated in his attempts at growing a beard, Luke contemplated tattooing.
