JAMES LABRIE MOURNING BELOVETH RUST & BONE
A MASTERPIECE OF DARKNESS FROM GLOOMYIRISHDOOMSTERS
I MOURNING BELOVETH play doom I metal of a morbid stripe that’s probably heard in I the heads of condemned I men on their way to the I gallows. It’s heavy, but not because of fuzz pedals, down-tuning or super-slow tempos (although that stuff all plays a part), as with so much doom, but because these funereal hymns are forged ofthe same wintry melancholy that flows through the veins of fellow Irishmen Primordial. Take opener Godether – it opens with a folk lament that sounds like something you’d hear at a wake, before the heaviness kicks in like a slow, crushing wave of grief that pulls you under and keeps you there. One to listen to on headphones while you feel the shame of breaking your New Year’s resolution. DOWNLOAD: Godether; Rust.
FOR FANS OF: Ahab, Primordial.
