Like its Cambridge branch in the basement of Star Market, Decelle is basically a supermarket for clothing. Men, women, boys and girls can be outfitted from head to toe here. Decelle sells a mixture of irregular items (all marked); clothes from past seasons (on clearance racks); and current fashions, bought by Decelle in large quantities and thus discounted. You’ll see some upscale brand names dotted around the store, like the Liz Claiborne cotton skirt (suggested price $58) for just $30 that Mr. C found. For everyday wear, the store is lined with racks of inexpensive separates, like $15 washed silk blouses.
Men’s clothes for all seasons are equally affordable. A polyester trench coat was $90 cheaper than its list price of $240, and Ocean Pacific swim trunks, elsewhere $24, were just $10 here. Lots of quality stuff for the kids, too; Mr. C saw infants’ Carter’s cotton sleepsuits for the tiny price of $8, and Osh Kosh rompers for girls from $15. For under it all, Decelle stocks underwear by folks like Bali, Warner, and Maidenform. Shoes, hosiery, bags, socks, and accessories round out this bargain clothing store. Open Mondays through Saturdays, 9 am to 9 P.M. and Sundays 12 noon to 6 P.M.
