Television presenter Alison finished tenth in the 2014 series of Strictly with Aljaz Skorjanec.

The 40 year old, who first came to public attention when she appeared in the third series of Big Brother, has a ten-year-old son, Aiden. She is dancing a cha-cha with Robin Windsor to Kool & The Gang’s Celebration.

How is the training going?

Robin is a lovely guy but he’s not very well today. I think I’ve given him my flu, which is devastating.

Have you found it easy to get back into dancing?

No! I did the Strictly tour but my ankle was hurting so much that I stopped dancing. It’s been hard to get back into it. I did hesitate when they asked me back as I wondered if I would be ft enough. But then I remembered how amazing it was. It’s Christmas, so I thought all the judges are going to be nice, even if you are rubbish.

What do your family think about you doing the show again?

My boyfriend said: ‘Why are you going to put your body through that again?’

I think Aiden is proud and embarrassed depending on how I do! But he is cool with his school friends as his mum’s on the telly.

What are you plans for Christmas?

I’m doing panto in Sunderland so I’ve got digs. All my family are coming up to see me. I always do Christmas dinner – and Marks & Spencer do the best prepared food that makes you look like you’re a really good cook!

What do you think of this year’s Strictly?

The standard is unbelievable. I’m so glad I wasn’t in it this year – I’d have been out in the first week!

Helen George told us that you’re the reason she wanted to do Strictly as you looked like you were having so much fun…

Get lost! Really? I think I become a different person on the dancefloor. The atmosphere and the audience, it’s a lovely feeling.

Any plans for next year?

I was thinking of having a little break. I need to find some balance. I’ve not seen my son and when he turns round and says: ‘I am missing you Mum,’ I need to redress that. I feel like I’m losing a bit of me. i>
