On Sundays, pedicures are elevated from simple maintenance to serious indulgence.
“I consider this my overall pampering session for the week.
1 cut my nails, massage lotion into my feet and exchange foot rubs with my husband. Then, depending on his mood, he sometimes polishes my toenails,” says an Atlanta college-admissions director.
“I use a pumice stone in the bath. Then I rub lotion all over my feet, pull on cushy cotton athletic socks and my big terry robe and watch 60 Minutes says a Chicago executive.
• The prelude to a successful pedicure is a skin-softening soak in sudsy water. “Use an exfoliating scrub instead of a pumice stone it’s more enjoyable,” suggests New York City manicurist Sheril Bailey. Even a simple massage can make a difference: “Just warm lotion in your hands, then gently squeeze the muscles of the feet and release,” says New York City massage therapist Robin Ehrlich-Bragdon of the Easlside Massage Therapy Center.
• Our favorite treats for feet: Bath & Body Works Health & Beauty Farm Shea Butter Hand & Foot Treatment, Cabot Herbal Soothing Foot Soak, Crabtree & Evelyn Vanilla Body Lotion.
